The Raleigh Pediatric Dental Team

Dr. David D. Olson, DDS, MS


Dr. David D. Olson, DDS, MS, grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina where he attended Underwood Elementary School, West Millbrook Middle School, and Millbrook High School. He went on to college at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he graduated with a BS in Biology. In 1999 he graduated from the UNC School of Dentistry. Dr. Dave then completed three additional years of specialty training in pediatric dentistry and received a masters degree in dental public health at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, as well as the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, and the Center for Disabilities and Development. He maintains an active affiliation with the UNC School of Dentistry as an Adjunct Assistant Professor and with the University of Iowa College of Dentistry as a guest lecturer. Dr. Dave is also a member of the North Carolina Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, and the Raleigh/Wake County Dental Society. In 2006, Dr. Dave achieved Diplomate status as a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist with the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Betsy K. Van Benthuysen, DMD

Dr. Betsy K. Van Benthuysen, DMD is a North Carolina native, having grown up in Goldsboro, North Carolina. She attended Wake Forest University where she received a BS degree in Biology and International Relations. She earned her dental degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 1997 and completed the General Practice Residency Program at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois in 1998. In 2000, Dr. Van Benthuysen completed the Pediatric Residency Program at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine.

After practicing in Providence, Rhode Island for three years, she returned to North Carolina, practicing for six years before relocating to Raleigh to be closer to her family. In her free time loves cooking, antiquing, traveling, interior design, biking and of course spending time with her family.

Danna
Danna is originally from Durham and now lives in Wake Forest.  She graduated from Palm Beach Atlantic University with a Business Degree.  She loves greeting our families as they come through the door!  She enjoys baking, reading, and playing tennis with her family.

Kelly
Kelly graduated from the UNC-Chapel Hill Dental Assisting Program and went on to specialize in Pediatric Dental Assisting. She has over ten years experience in dentistry and is DANB certified. She enjoys spending time with her husband, John, and her two daughters, Hannah and Morgan. Kelly loves amusement parks, snow skiing, water parks and all kid movies!

Katherine
Katherine is a Certified Dental Assistant that graduated from WakeTech.  She has lived in Raleigh for over ten years and enjoys traveling, baking, fishing, and spending time with her three dogs: Onix and Cinnamon (both black labs) and Meatball (English Bulldog).

Diane
Diane is originally from New Jersey where she started her career as a Pediatric Dental Assistant in 1990.  She loves children and animals.  She enjoys watching sports, the outdoors, her pets, and cheering for her son Christian on the baseball field.  

Kerri
Kerri completed her dental courses at UNC-Chapel Hill in 1999 to become a DAII. She has worked in general and pediatric dentistry. In her spare time she enjoys traveling to other countries, road trips, photography, and field trips with her two children, Tristen and London. She loves animals and enjoys her time spent with her three dogs- Beyla, Bijou, and Sunni.

Elspeth
Elspeth is from Raleigh and graduated from the Wake Tech Dental Assisting Program as a Certified Dental Assistant. She has loved working in pediatric dentistry since graduating in 2007. She enjoys fishing, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Melissa
Melissa is originally from Raleigh and has lived in nearby Wilson County for eighteen years. She has attended school at UNC-Chapel Hill for dental assisting, Wake Forest School of Medicine and Wilson Community College. She has worked in pediatric dentistry, general dentistry and orthodontics but her love for children has brought her back to pediatric dentistry. She enjoys swimming, reading, and spending time with her children and grandchildren!

Courtney
Courtney graduated from Wake Tech Community College as a Certified Dental Assistant II. Her love of working with children has brought her to Raleigh Pediatric Dentistry. Her interests include traveling, sports, cooking, and anything artistic. She enjoys spending time with friends, family, and especially her son Banks and dog Moose.

Lia
Lia is originally from New Jersey where she got her start in medical billing.  Since moving to North Carolina, she has continued her career in insurance and billing.  In her free time she enjoys spending time with her four children and husband.  She loves watching her children play sports and enjoys their Saturday nights at church.
